It's been a solid season for Waite as he remains in contention for the title - Photo: James Roberts

James Waite has arguably been the most consistent driver of the 2017 season in Fiesta Juniors and Silverstone provided more of the same with two 3rd place finishes. Olivia Humphrey caught up with him just after the weekend to get his thoughts.

How were races one and two?
Race 1 was very tricky as I had a bad start, I dropped back to 5th. Maintaining good pace I was able to pass Matt Greenwood on the second lap. To my shock on about the third lap, Nicholas pulled off, so I knew this was a good chance to catch him in championship points. In race 2, I had a much better start as I was able to remain in third place at the end of the opening lap. As my tyres started to wear I was concerned that Gus and Olly had better pace through the mid section of the race and risked taking the final podium spot from me. Despite not having a higher spot on the podium, it was a great weekend for us as we were able to take great points from this meeting putting us 2nd in the championship. I can't thank Jam-Sport the most amazing and supportive team enough for their help over the course of the last two years. Jam-Sport have a massive contribution to my success and double podium this weekend.

What is the best thing about driving at Silverstone?
The best thing about driving at Silverstone is that it is the home of British motorsport and helps me appreciate how lucky I am and helps me realise that if I work hard enough, I can achieve much more in Motorsport.

What can be expected from you in the last few races?
Hopefully I can score high points and consistently get podiums at Croft and at Donington in order to maintain my points gap in the championship.

Are you excited to be back after the break?
I am very excited to race again after the long summer break. It is always great to be around and meet amazing people at the circuit. I am also always focused and determined at race meetings to put myself in the best position possible for the racing on Sunday.
