Bring it on!

After a long winter of waiting the new FJC season is finally here and we can’t wait to get going! The 2015 season will open this weekend on the Silverstone National circuit with rounds 1 & 2 on the 1.64-mile configuration.

11 FJC drivers will have the honour of opening the BRSCC season when they go out for the first of two practice sessions at 9.00 on Easter Saturday morning. The second session is just before the lunch-break at 12.30. The 20-minute qualifying session, scheduled for 17.10, then concludes Saturday’s track activity. Sunday’s two races are scheduled to go at 11.50 and 16.45.

With 2014 champion Geri Nicosia moving on to Ginettas Juniors on the BTCC package, there is a vacancy to be filled at the front of the grid, and last year’s runner-up Michael Higgs will be at the top of that list. Michael only won a single race last season (at Snetterton in April) but the unerring consistency of man and machine earned him 11 podium finishes (9 of them in second spot) to clinch second place in the final standings ahead of Thomas Grundy.

Michael will have his challengers though and Nathan Edwards, also starting his third season in FJC, could well be the man to step into Geri’s shoes. The Tunbridge Wells based 16-year old finished fifth overall last year and has now accrued a wealth of race experience.

Another prime candidate for championship honours is Aaron Thompson. The Romford racer has the most FJC victories to his name in this year’s field (4), and is chasing a hat-trick in Sunday’s first FJC race, having won the final two rounds at Brands Hatch in October.  If Aaron can add some consistency to his undoubted pace he will be difficult to beat.

Connor Grady, Elliot Wilson, Cameron Pugh and Alex Tait all had limited outings towards the end of last year’s FJC, so that should give them a head start on this season’s debutants; Ronan Quinn, Lewis Kent, Carlito Miracco and Sikander Hussain, who joins the ‘family business’ with his father Saqhir and sister Natasha being regular competitors in the senior Fiesta Championship. Natasha should certainly be able to pass on some tips to her younger brother as she graduated to the seniors after two seasons in FJC.

The current entry list for the opening two rounds is;

7             Cameron Pugh

8             Connor Grady

15           Sikandar Hussain

20           Ronan Quinn

21           Nathan Edwards

22           Elliot Wilson

34           Michael Higgs

38           Lewis Kent

41           Aaron Thompson

76           Carlito Miracco

99           Alexander Tait

The weather for the weekend looks like it will be cool and cloudy. Full details can be found at SILVERSTONE WEATHER
