Silverstone National - The Sequel

Will Aaron Thompson repeat his Easter victories? Photo:

FJC returns to the Silverstone National circuit this weekend for rounds 11 and 12 having raced on the same configuration back in April for rounds one and two.

That all seems a long time ago now but it will certainly be in the memory banks of championship leader Aaron Thompson who started his hereto successful 2015 campaign with back to back wins at the season opener. The maximum points that Aaron accrued over the Easter weekend gave him the early lead and it is one that he hasn’t relinquished yet.

Second in the first April encounter was Michael Higgs and it is Michael that has gone on to be Aaron’s main challenger, winning three races in the intervening months, including last time out at Castle Combe.

Aaron didn’t have his best meeting in Wiltshire last month but he managed to keep the damage limitation to just a single point lost to Michael, who now sits 15 points behind. The other race winner at Combe was Nathan Edwards and he will be extra keen to build on his long awaited first win.

A warm FJC welcome to Bradley Burns who will make his championship debut this weekend, having literally just got his MSA licence. Bradley is from Alton in Hampshire and turned 14 on the first of this month.

The full driver line-up is as follows;

This weekend will give all the drivers the experience of a slightly different format. There will be two practice sessions as normal on Saturday – the first at 9.50am and the second at 2.10pm, but qualifying will be on Sunday morning, the first session of the day at 9am. The two 20-minute races are then scheduled for 1.05pm and 4.05pm.

After all the recent heavy rain across the country the good news is that the forecast for Silverstone is dry, albeit a little overcast, with highs reaching 17 degrees on both days. A detailed forecast can be found at SILVERSTONE WEATHER
