It’s on to the sweeping banked corners and twisty infield sections that make up the Rockingham Motor Speedway for Rounds 13 and 14 of the 2015 Fiesta Junior Championship. A 12 car field is expected for one of the country’s fastest growing junior touring car series.

If there’s one man who will be more determined than anyone to right the wrongs of Silverstone, it has to be current points leader Aaron Thompson. Gearbox and alternator issues forced Thompson to leave Silverstone with nothing to show for his weekend. As a result, this left the door wide open for his biggest pursuers, Nathan Edwards and Michael Higgs, to claw back vital Championship points. As it stands right now, the top 3 in the table are covered by a mere 12 points on dropped scores, despite the fact that Higgs has scored the most points out of all 3 drivers. Just one slip, error or mechanical issue this weekend for any of them could provide a major turning point.

Despite the title fight, there was one man who claimed the weekend for his own and surprisingly, neither of the 3 drivers mentioned visited the top step of the podium. Instead, this honour was left to Championship rookie Carlito Miracco - not only did he grab his maiden career victory but also promptly followed it up with the clean sweep in Race 2. Hard to imagine that this is only Carlito’s first ever season of racing anything full stop!

All four drivers mentioned will undoubtedly be in the mix this weekend, however there are others who will also be in and amongst the action throughout. Ronan Quinn has certainly been a star in his own right with podiums in all of the last 3 race weekends, proving his transition from karts to cars has been a swift one. Lewis Kent is another youngster with promising flashes of talent, having secured a 3rd place finish in Race 2 back at Castle Combe.

Other championship regulars Cameron Pugh, Sikander Hussain, Elliot Wilson and Alex Tait are all continuing to improve at their own rates of progression, so expect them to gain speed and confidence over the course of the weekend. At the same time we can’t forget our most recent recruits to the Championship in Ben Swift and Bradley Burns, who will both be out to prove their talents and build on the lessons learned from their opening race meetings.

The Juniors are on course to be greeted with dry weather for the weekend with the forecast showing predictions of fair and cloudy skies over the two days with temperatures reaching a high of 19 degrees. A full breakdown can be found at ROCKINGHAM WEATHER.

The provisional timetable, final instructions and entry list for the weekend will all be located at ROCKINGHAM RACE MEETING.
