Jam-Sport Racing's Olly Turner had the best weekend of his first season of circuit racing to date in the BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship at Snetterton recently, snatching a superb 3rd place in Race 2 to claim his first podium. Olivia Humphrey caught up with Olly after the weekend to find out how it felt.

How was race one for you after qualifying?
Wasn't the best of positions to start from because I had a lot of work to do to get to the front, but I also had a dreadful start losing two places. Thankfully I finished where I started.

Race 2 proved more successive, how did it feel for you?
Race 2 was a bit of a worry, as it was wet and I had tyres which were 3 years old. But this time I had an amazing start that put me in fifth by the second corner. Then from there I pushed and battled my way to 3rd place.

This was a personal victory for you as it was your first podium. What was the reaction in the garage from your family and team?
I had the team and my family in tears of happiness.

Do you think that now you have achieved this success it can be carried on through to Silverstone?
I have a feeling that there are still greater things to come.

Finally, commentator Jake Sanson took a great picture of you and fellow driver Josh Steed. How important is it that you that you have those strong friendships within the championship?
I think it's important to have these relationships with drivers for each other's benefits, because you will respect each other more on track, and you have a lot of fun with them in the pits.

Olly's best result so far has helped him move up to 12th in the points standings with 3 more meetings and 6 races left to try and crack the top 10 by the end of the season. With a 20 point gap to 10th placed Scott Cansdale, Turner will be determined to make up ground. He heads back to the Silverstone National circuit in a couple of weeks where he will look to improve on a best finish of 8th on his first visit back in May.
